Long time no blog, I know. As if anyone actually reads this thing. This is my first entry of 2010 and half the year is gone. I kind of forgot about this blog, or I just decided it was pointless, but I started it when I was unemployed last year and I guess I'm returning to it now for the same reason...boredom. In May I finished my first feature film, "Channel News" and since then I have been submitting it to various film festivals across the country. In June it had its premiere at the 2010 Underground Exposure Film Festival in Minneapolis where it won the award for Best Minnesota Feature.
I'm excited to see where else it will play but lately I have just been getting a lot of rejection letters. That's to be expected in the indie film biz but it always hurts a little. Finances are tight right now and I am looking hard for any kind of editing gig I can find. I may have to return to another reality TV gig if I can't find anything film related which would suck but I have to make money somehow. In the meantime I have an idea for my next feature and I'm trying to work up the nerve to start writing it.
I am proud to present the pilot for our new web series. It took a little longer than I thought it would but it's finally done. I'm not sure when, or if, we will make episode 2, but I'm glad we at least finished this one.
I can't say this summer has been very productive so far when it comes to my personal projects. I have been working long hours on Extreme Makeover and it's been hard to motivate myself to do anything else. I've been there over two months now and we have slated 8 episodes out of the 25 we need for the season. The job was supposed to last until October but now they are saying it may go until December, which is good for my bank account but not too good for my sanity. I'm hoping I can find an assistant editing gig on a film soon.
In the meantime I have embarked on a new goal: to direct at least one film project every month. These projects can be whatever I want, music videos, short films, a commercial, doesn't matter. I just need to be directing stuff. It's the only way I can get better and the last time I directed something was March 08...that's not good.
So, my July project is the pilot for a new web series, "The Legend of George Strong Bailey". It's based on a short silly comedy me and my friends made at Biola. We loved the characters so much that we want to see more of them and we're hoping other people do to. You can watch the original short film below.
I am an artist of many disciplines including film, music, and sometimes body painting. I graduated from Biola University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in motion picture production and currently reside in Los Angeles, CA.
