Episode 1

I am proud to present the pilot for our new web series. It took a little longer than I thought it would but it's finally done. I'm not sure when, or if, we will make episode 2, but I'm glad we at least finished this one.

Enjoy.

Becoming a "Strong" director

I can't say this summer has been very productive so far when it comes to my personal projects. I have been working long hours on Extreme Makeover and it's been hard to motivate myself to do anything else. I've been there over two months now and we have slated 8 episodes out of the 25 we need for the season. The job was supposed to last until October but now they are saying it may go until December, which is good for my bank account but not too good for my sanity. I'm hoping I can find an assistant editing gig on a film soon.

In the meantime I have embarked on a new goal: to direct at least one film project every month. These projects can be whatever I want, music videos, short films, a commercial, doesn't matter. I just need to be directing stuff. It's the only way I can get better and the last time I directed something was March 08...that's not good.

So, my July project is the pilot for a new web series, "The Legend of George Strong Bailey". It's based on a short silly comedy me and my friends made at Biola. We loved the characters so much that we want to see more of them and we're hoping other people do to. You can watch the original short film below.

Extreme Makeover: Jacob Edition

Have you ever watched that show on TV where their are these families with tragic stories of pain and loss whose lives are forever changed when their houses are completely renovated by some guy with spiky hair and his team of builders?

Yeah, it's pretty cool and I work on it now. I am their newest Casting Editor, which means I cut together audition footage of potential families for the show. Then a bunch of people more important than me watch the videos and decide who will get a new home. It's not a bad gig and I am so happy to be working again. Praise God.

Of course this will limit my Sonic the Hedgehog time but that's life.

Famous

Another new song for y'all to vibe with...www.myspace.com/jacobkindberg

They heard but they didn't hear
They saw but they couldn't see
You weren't who you were supposed to be
They laugh at you everyday
They never seem to leave
You aren't you are supposed to be

I'll tell your story to the world
I'll shine a light on all that's good
I'll make you famous
I'll cut my eyes out and see anew
I'll show my friends how to do it too
I'll make you famous

They took you away at night
They didn't want anyone to see
You were who you were supposed to be
They steal your money in plain sight
They are sowing all your seeds
You are who you are supposed to be

I'll love the man who spits on me
I'll love the man who set me free
I'll make you famous
I'll drink you in and pass the cup
I'll eat the bread that is enough
I'll make you famous

Can't Separate

I recorded a new song a few nights ago. Enjoy.

www.myspace.com/jacobkindberg

I am convinced, I am sure
death it stings and life it drains
the angels sing better than me
and demon's dreams grow like weeds
but none of these things
could ever take your love away

They can't separate you from me
Your love will overcome

I am convinced, I am sure
kings have throwns made of bones
powerful men wanna do me in
they were here before and will be again
but none of these things
could ever take your love away

They can't separate you from me
Your love will overcome

There is no height too high
No depth too low
No matter how I try to run
You'll never let me go

Forever Betrayed

The title for my latest song might be a little too dramatic but that's fine with me. This song has heart and it should have a grand title even if it isn't very grand musically.

I wrote this song three years ago when I spent a month in Brazil. The lyrics are exactly how I wrote them back then but the music is completely different. I was forced to change the music because something is wrong with my voice right now and I can't hit the notes that I could before. I can barely even sing this new version of the song.

You can check out the new song here...www.myspace.com/jacobkindberg

I submitted this song to RedFizz and the comments haven't been very good, but I am excited to see that for once I have written lyrics that aren't so straight forward. Everyone on there thinks they know what this song is about and they are all way off.

Speak to Me

I was down in San Diego this weekend shooting a music video for a young singer/songwriter named Haley Montgomery. If you haven't heard of her yet make sure you go over to Myspace and check her out, she is very talented. www.myspace.com/haleymontgomery

We made the video for a song called "Speak to Me", which is about a high schooler who loses a friend in a car accident. I was the director of photography on the project and it was directed by Jill Brownlee. She did an amazing job for someone just starting their film career. This is her second music video.

We shot the video in two days at a couple of cemetery locations that were really great. I will post some pictures from the shoot when I get them from the photographer.

I think we got some awesome footage and I'm definitively looking forward to seeing how this thing turns out.

Back to Basics

I am currently involved in the early stages of a few musical projects and I'm not really sure which one I am going to run with. The rap thing was fun but I think I'm going to walk away from it for awhile. I will always go out and do another show if I get asked because I still have a lot of CDs to sell, but I really want to shift back to making alternative rock.

I have recorded several demo songs that could be used some day for a solo album or a future band's album. You can hear some of those songs at www.myspace.com/jacobkindberg
I would really like to get another band together, but until I find the right people I have to do my solo thing on Garageband.

You can listen to one of my new songs, "Back to Basics", as it is being featured on the front page of www.redfizz.com today. RedFizz is a site where you can submit your music and get critical feedback from other users. I have submitted many songs to them in the past but this is only my second time being featured.

The critics can be rough sometimes but I like the honest opinions.

Like a Music Video Virgin

Last year I was a video editor at Ring of Fire Studios in Santa Monica. They are a small VFX house that specializes in commercials and music videos. I spent most of my time there working on lame Mixed-martial arts videos but every once in awhile I was brought in on some cool projects like this one.

We made this music video for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour. I was an assistant editor on the project.

Someone shot this footage at one of her shows so it's kind of crappy, but it's cool to see the video on those huge screens in the context of her show. I'll put the original video up sometime if they send me a copy.

I hope I'm not violating the non-disclosure contract that I signed when I worked on this project. I'm pretty sure I'm OK to be sharing this information now that her tour is over, hopefully you won't be reading a post on this blog in a week or two that is written from my jail cell.

Time on My Hands

I've been out of work for almost three months now and I've reached that point where I have to stop spending my entire day on the couch watching Seinfeld....because I've run out of episodes. It's time to start doing something with all this free time, and by doing something I mean creating something. So, this is something I was inspired to make last week.

I wanted a new poster for my room but I didn't want to buy one so I butchered my collection of Rolling Stone magazines to make this collage of my favorite musicians.

Bet you can't name every person/band on there.
