Back to Basics

I am currently involved in the early stages of a few musical projects and I'm not really sure which one I am going to run with. The rap thing was fun but I think I'm going to walk away from it for awhile. I will always go out and do another show if I get asked because I still have a lot of CDs to sell, but I really want to shift back to making alternative rock.

I have recorded several demo songs that could be used some day for a solo album or a future band's album. You can hear some of those songs at www.myspace.com/jacobkindberg
I would really like to get another band together, but until I find the right people I have to do my solo thing on Garageband.

You can listen to one of my new songs, "Back to Basics", as it is being featured on the front page of www.redfizz.com today. RedFizz is a site where you can submit your music and get critical feedback from other users. I have submitted many songs to them in the past but this is only my second time being featured.

The critics can be rough sometimes but I like the honest opinions.

Like a Music Video Virgin

Last year I was a video editor at Ring of Fire Studios in Santa Monica. They are a small VFX house that specializes in commercials and music videos. I spent most of my time there working on lame Mixed-martial arts videos but every once in awhile I was brought in on some cool projects like this one.

We made this music video for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour. I was an assistant editor on the project.

Someone shot this footage at one of her shows so it's kind of crappy, but it's cool to see the video on those huge screens in the context of her show. I'll put the original video up sometime if they send me a copy.

I hope I'm not violating the non-disclosure contract that I signed when I worked on this project. I'm pretty sure I'm OK to be sharing this information now that her tour is over, hopefully you won't be reading a post on this blog in a week or two that is written from my jail cell.

Time on My Hands

I've been out of work for almost three months now and I've reached that point where I have to stop spending my entire day on the couch watching Seinfeld....because I've run out of episodes. It's time to start doing something with all this free time, and by doing something I mean creating something. So, this is something I was inspired to make last week.

I wanted a new poster for my room but I didn't want to buy one so I butchered my collection of Rolling Stone magazines to make this collage of my favorite musicians.

Bet you can't name every person/band on there.
